Breathing new life into one of the world’s best venues.

The Royal Opera House project has successfully preserved the historic 140-year-old theatre while modernising its backstage facilities for the 21st century.
The refurbished foyers and auditorium are now air-conditioned, and the stage and flytower have been expanded to enhance sightlines and simplify scenery handling. New dressing rooms, rehearsal facilities, workshops, and offices have been built, centralising the theatre’s operations.

Public spaces have been extended, including the transformation of the Floral Hall into the main foyer. The addition of a second smaller auditorium and ballet studios allows for smaller-scale and experimental works.
The revamped theatre integrates with Covent Garden Market Square, featuring a new arcade of shops and a second entrance, completing the square as originally envisioned.
