The world’s biggest man-made wave pool, Surf Abu Dhabi, redefines sports and leisure in the emirate, creating a global hub for surfing tourism. Partnering with the Kelly Slater Wave Company and Modon Properties, BDP developed the architectural and interior design for the world-class facility’s Surf & VIP Club, Beach Club, and FM building.

Situated on the water's edge on Hudayriat Island, the ranch is designed to capture the attention of the global surfing community, whilst linking directly with the aquatic nature around the site.
The architecture seamlessly blends an external and internal design, using a common thread of natural stones, blackened steel, and timber to link the spaces and bring cohesion and legibility to the buildings. Tactile materials, subtle colour accents, and engraved wayfinding enhance the welcoming atmosphere, resulting in a vibrant space for the competitive sport and everyday leisure activities.
The Surf & VIP Club entrance blends elegance with simplicity, honouring surfing's rich history and its promising future. Featuring a striking staircase, link bridges, and pools of shallow water, the space creates a gradual journey of discovery to the wave basin.
Catering to both amateur and professional members, The VIP Lounge provides a relaxing space for preparation and unwinding with soft furnishings and curated surf history displays. This dynamic space can also be transformed for private functions and live events.
