Mike is an Architect Technical Director who leads the practice's Building Safety Group and is a member of the RIBA Principal Designer Register (HRB). He also leads the Education sector in the Manchester Studio, is a Building Regulations Principal Designer, and is a Certified Passivhaus Designer.
He has a wide range of skills focusing on detailed design and delivery of high-quality, award-winning projects in multiple sectors, including higher education, schools, sci-tech, transport, heritage, adaptive reuse, arts, leisure, and sports. As part of his role, he is passionate about creating robust design information using digital delivery tools to create a digital twin of our buildings. Using this method, we can utilise the digital twin for iterative evaluation and improvement and optimise our designs. He is involved in several practice-wide initiatives focused on building safety, standardisation, efficiency, sustainability, and low-carbon construction, helping to drive forward the firm’s commitment to building safety, environmental responsibility, and design excellence.
He was the RIBA North-West Project Architect of the Year (2019) for his contribution to the Northern Hub ‘Ordsall Chord’ project.
